Together for Alzheimer's 2023 Update

What a great turnout this morning on such a sunny day!

There were 71 runners and walkers and so far we have raised an amazing £1521 for The Alzheimer's Society.

'Together for Alzheimer’s 5k Run or Walk’

Sunday October 8th 2023

Birchwood Tourist Park,

BH20 7PA

(or virtually)

This is the 16th year we have organised this event to raise awareness and funds for The Alzheimer’s Society. Everyone is welcome from club runners to family walkers and the route takes us through some lovely forest tracks. It would be great if you could get involved by either taking part or joining our team of volunteers to help on the day. We will need help with marshals, registration, photographer, cakemakers and any other way you may be able to help. If you can’t come along on the day, you are very welcome to join us virtually and still support this great event!

'Together for Alzheimer's' is a 5k Fun run or walk

organised in aid of The Alzheimer's Society.  When my lovely Mum, Lily Murray was diagnosed with dementia in her early 70’s, our family wanted do something to help raise awareness of this horrible disease and decided to fundraise for The Alzheimer’s Society. Our first event took place in 2007 and with the support of great friends and volunteers it has become a very popular annual event. The route takes us through some lovely forest tracks and we encourage everyone from club runners to walkers and family groups.

'Together for Alzheimer's  2021

 

 took place on Sunday October 17th at Birchwood Tourist park and we had a great turn out with 84 runners and walkers taking part. It was a lovely atmosphere and many personal challenges met. First over the line was Zachary Tinsley in just 19:55 and first lady was Lucy Eversden in 22:06. Thanks to everyone who entered and family and friends who cheered them along. Thanks to all the supporters who have donated to this great charity and all the wonderful team of volunteers who help to make it all run smoothly and safely.

Together for Alzheimer's 2018' 

 

'Together for Alzheimer's' started in 2007 and is an annual 5k run in Wareham Forest 
in aid of 'The Alzheimer’s Society' , which attracts both club runners and family walkers. 

 

Together for Alzheimer's 2018' took place on Sunday 18th November, starting at Birchwood Tourist Park, Wareham  and we had a fantastic morning with record numbers taking part. The sun was shining and 127 people joined in. The fastest runners crossed the line in 19 minutes and some walkers took over an hour. There was a wonderful mix of ages and fitness levels, a beautiful course through forest tracks, fantastic marshalls cheering  and supporting everyone and great cakes at the end. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning! This year so far we have raised £2000 for The Alzheimer's Society which does fantastic work in helping those affected by Dementia, as well as research to find a cure for this devastating disease.
